Wow! what a windy day!

We had a very windy day today! Take a look at my neighbour across the road's house!!!
I made a really cute fleecy top for Ross today. I measured his length and made size 68cm, because that is what he measures and I wanted it to fit him now and not when it's too hot to be wearing fleecys. I was so proud of it until I struggled to put it on him. The length is okay, but it is quite tight which suprized me because at first I thought it was going to be too wide! He looks cute in it anyway.

Since last post....

Okay. Found my camera, replaced the batteries, and took a few snaps of what I have been up to since last we spoke.

Painted Ross's cot RED! Thank you Liz for all your help with this. Painted a TREE on Ross's bedroom wall. Once again, thank you Liz! Made a softy that I have named Dharma. Re-folded all my fabric and put them on a new shelf. (Don't they look so pretty?) And, finally, a bit of sewing in the form of another bag! This one is for Amanda.

Quick question; At what age did your kids start giving you the look that says "Mum,....your weird!"?

I'm back!

Due to the overwhelming number of requests by my millions of followers (he,he)to "update your blog already!" I am on to it! But you will all have to wait one more day, because I first need to locate my camera, and give it a new SD card. Because what is a blog without photos??? BORING! Stay tuned!.......

Creative weekend for all.

Yesterday the girls (me included), had great fun playing with one of Eden's birthday presents. It is a fashion design kit that comes with stencils, patterned paper and cute little coat hangers! (too cute). Here are our creations;..I'm not going to tell you who created what - you can guess. I think it's quite funny how the outfits turned out looking a bit like what we would each to choose to wear. Then I decided to sort my fabrics and make them look all pretty.... This inspired me to sew something. I was up until 1:40am happily sewing away, oblivious to the time. I couldn't believe it was so late when I eventually hopped into bed. I was making this; Happy 15th Birthday Emmy! XX

Thankyou gifts

I haven't been feeling very well these last few days. Seems I have a cold. However, I have managed to piece together a couple of thankyou gifts for the lovely Liz, for her efforts making Eden's birthday cake! Here they are; The "Very Liz" clutch; and a visual diary cover made from fabric that reminded me of her; All my recent sewing projects have inspired Lily to get out her sewing machine and make a bag. She has also developed her own brand name 'Pretty Pink'! (pretty cute!) And here is a cute photo of our our handsome prince!

My Weekend.

It was a busy, busy weekend full of celebration and LOADS of excitement! Eden had her 7th birthday party at a rollerskating rink! (The $5 hair-crimper was put to use - gotta have 80's crimped hair for a rollerskating party!) Fun was had by all (I think). Here are some pickies; It was a late night Friday night (or should I say morning??) Liz and I worked on until 3am on Eden's birthday cake - but it was worth it - she LOVED IT!!! (THANK YOU LIZ!!!) Sunday was spent with good company too. A birthday / fairwell lunch for Suzi at Tenefeate winery (yummy pizza) and then I worked on until the wee hours of the morning again to complete her birthday prezzie; Hope you like it Suze! Do you like my personalised "GreeN LeaF" lable tag? This is going to be my "brand" name, tee-hee! One day I might get professional woven tags made with the words, but for now I'm happy making my own. Unfortunately too many late nights has seen me wake up this morning with a killer sore throat!! Hummmm....not feeling well at all...DOH! (Just aren't enough hours in the day!)

The last few days.........

Well...We have been busy here at the Smyth houshold! (At least Doug and his Dad have been busy)..Thanks boys!
The kitchen floor has been painted yeay!!! The same colour it was originally but now it doesn't have any flaked patch bits. Well,....it didn't until this morning when I wheeled the fridge back into it's home and created two big skid lines! OH NO!!! and I was being SO careful too!
We haven't moved the kitchen table back in yet and the girls think they now have a great dance floor.
So we moved out to the in-law's house until the fumes dispursed a bit. (Very stinky paint!) THIS is why (Kirsty) I haven't updated my blog lately! But since last post I have done a bit of op-shopping,.check out this cute bed sheet I picked up for a couple of dollars....
I think it would make cute library bags (would you like one Clem?). Also took the girls op-shopping (which they actually loved), they bought some oversized big books to use when they play "schools", and a hair crimper! Practically new in it's box with some very "80's" photos. We have been looking for a crimper for ages but they just don't make them anymore.
Having sewing withdrawls but I'm going to have to clean this first........ Doh!

Ross's bedroom wall idea.

So I have an idea...(It's not MY idea - I stole it off of a website photo that my dear friend Liz emailed to me). www.roomenvy.wordpress.com When Ross was born, his great Uncle kindly gave him a money gift that I had decided to use to buy something for Ross's bedroom wall, (like a picture or something). But I haven't found anything yet, until now. I am going to try to recreate this alphabet wall! So far I have found and purchased some cute vintage sign letters from my favourite website www.etsy.com the letters "m, O, F, and G" (Only 20 letters to go!) If any of you find any groovy big letters in your out and abouts please let me know of them!

Suggest, and it shall be done!

Yesterday my sister Kirsty payed me a visit and I showed her the ruffle clutch purse I had made for Katrina. She said, "is it PART of her present?" and suggested it needed a matching bag to call home.....So..........Last night while my crazy husband was up watching the Socceroo's play Ghana in the World Cup, I was up too, busy at my sewing machine and here is the result....

'Classic Comments' From time to time I will be posting some classic comments made by my children. They make so many that make me laugh, but because I don't habitually write them down, I forget them. Last night Eden said;

"In the oldern days there was no such thing as colour. EVERYTHING was black and white!"

Ever noticed that life can sometimes be a bit repetitive???

Guess what I have been up to lately...? Yep! Cleaning that darn playroom again! How does it get so messy so quickly? Only this time I didn't even get to photograph it clean before it got messed up again! DOH!! Anyway that was boring yesterday. TODAY I got to do a little sewing and have completed my sister Katrina's birthday gift. Only 2 weeks late, not bad I know. Hope you like it Kat. I was very undecided on the fabric choice but in the end went with this...... For all of you out there saying "hummmm, it's pretty, but what is it?" It's a clutch purse! I think I'll make a couple more out of these fabric combos... Gotta love that brown floral retro pinny I found at an op shop, isn't it gorgeous? Oh, and Liz has requested one out of this fabric, - with a pink and white poka-dot fabric that she'll be supplying. (Very Liz). Stay tuned for those posts! Don't worry Kirsty, I'll do Clem's kindy bag first!
